Roofing in Bundamba

Bundamba QLD 4304: a local roofing guide.

Bundamba sits just east of Booval. It mixes older timber and fibro homes with newer brick and lightweight houses on subdivided lots.

A suburb of two halves

Bundamba is one of Ipswich's older suburbs, and the older parts still have small timber cottages and post-war homes on generous blocks. Over the last two decades many of those blocks have been split, and newer homes with concrete tile or metal roofs now sit beside them. A roofer here might strip an old iron roof in the morning and fix a ridge cap on a 2000s tile roof in the afternoon.

Gutters and overflow

Older Bundamba homes often have small half-round or quad gutters that can't keep up with a summer downpour, and water spills back into the eaves. Replacing gutters with a larger profile, adding downpipes and making sure overflow goes outward rather than into the house is one of the most useful upgrades here. Gutter and downpipe work is usually done by a roofing or metal fascia and gutter contractor; see our licensing guide.

Flood history and roofs

Parts of Bundamba near Bundamba Creek and the Bremer River were flooded in January 2011 and again in February 2022 (Ipswich City Council, Bundamba Community Flood Awareness Guide, checked 18 Oct 2026). A roof doesn't flood, but homes that were inundated sometimes had ceilings, insulation and eaves replaced, and it pays to check the roof framing and tie-downs were sound before re-roofing.

Newer roofs, early problems

On newer infill homes, the common call-outs are cracked ridge pointing, a few slipped tiles after a storm, or leaks at a poorly flashed solar or air-conditioner penetration. These are often repairs rather than replacements.

Access

Many older Bundamba homes are high-set, which means scaffold or edge protection is needed for even modest jobs. Mention the number of storeys and any steep pitch when you ask for a quote.

Bundamba questions

Should I replace my gutters when I re-roof?

Usually it's sensible, because the old gutters are often the same age as the roof and the scaffold is already up. Ask for gutters, downpipes and fascia covers to be priced as separate lines.

Can flood damage affect my roof?

Not directly, but if ceilings and insulation were replaced after a flood, get the roof framing and tie-downs checked before a re-roof.

Want a price for your roof?

Send the suburb, the roof type and what's wrong. A local QBCC-licensed roofer can then contact you to arrange an inspection and quote.
